Questions and Answers

Template Download Questions

  1. When do I receive my template(s)?

Once your payment is processed and accepted, you will receive a download link via an e-mail for your digital download to the e-mail address you provided. You should expect the link within 24 hours of your purchase. If you do not receive your link within 24 hours check your spam folder for an email from us. If it’s still not there, complete the contact form under the "Company Info" tab and we'll re-send the link.

  1. How long does it take to download?

The time varies depending on your internet connection and the size of the file. The eduational tools and games PDF files are quite small in comparison to the zipped PSD templates. The bundled (zipped) packages are large files and thus will take longer to download.

Tips & other items that affect download

  • Sometimes the internet browser makes a difference. Two common browser are Internet Explorer and FireFox.
  • A direct connection rather than wireless is faster.
  • Download one file at a time. (Downloading multiple files simultaneously can cause corrupted files and contribute to time-out errors.)
  • Lastly, please make sure that you are saving the file and not opening it.

(Note: If you have dial up or a slow connection the PSD templates may not be for you.  To download the large zip files, high speed internet required.)

  1. I lost my original template and download link, can I re-download the file?

Proof of purchase is required. Please contact us with the purchase details.  Purchase details include:  your receipt via email (payment receipt such as PayPal) or month and year of purchase, email address used for payment, first and last name of buyer and the transaction ID number.

Note: Products are changed over time, the original product you purchased may no longer be available. Only items that are still available within the online store can be replaced. To help prevent a lost, it is wise to save the original template to a backup drive.

  1. How many times can I download the templates I purchased?

Because  internet connections speeds can vary, we allow 5 download attempts. You can download the templates up to 5 times from the same IP address. Once the file is successfully downloaded, there is no need to download the file again.  (It is highly recommended that you do the following 2 steps to help safeguard your purchase. After opening the PSD file, save the file under a new name. Second, save the original template on a backup drive.)

  1. I am having trouble downloading the files. Why aren’t they working?

Check your internet download speed. (The demand on the internet connection bandwidth makes a difference. You might want to check to see if anyone else is using the connection to download large files or stream videos.)

  1. Can I have the files ship to me on a CD/DVD?

Currently, shipping is not available. All products are offered only as downloadsCuCurrently, shipping is not available. All products are offered only as downloads.

Template Questions

  1. What comes with the templates?

The information and files varies depending on the product.  All products come with instructions. All PSD templates come with a choice of several backgrounds, basic tutorials, and photo layers.  Additional features may vary. Please refer to the product description for a list of all of the features. (A sample of various tutorials are viewable under Help & Support>Tutorial section.)

  1. How were the templates created?

The templates were created using CS4. If you are wondering if the PSD templates is compatible with your photo editing software. Please download the free test template located with the "Freebies" section.

  1. Are the templates editable?

Yes, the PSD templates are fully editable. You can change the colors, fonts, resize the template to suite your needs and purposes. The possibilities are unlimited.  Amaze your clients with your images using our products as backdrops.

The PDF files are not editable.

Note. Within the calendars PSD templates some of the layers are not editable.  For example, the text used for the year, month, days of the week and numbers are generally not editable.

  1. What is the pixel resolution?

The pixel resolution is 300. The high resolution helps to ensure quality printing.

  1. What is the file format?

Depending on the product purchased, the file is either a PDF or PSD.

The photo templates are downloaded as a zipped file. The zip file contains the PSD files, a jpeg image of the PSD file and general information/instruction within a PDF file. The PSD files are fully editable.  They were created using CS4 (Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 4).

The educational tools and games are generally a PDF file. The Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded for free from Adobe's website – www.adobe.com.

  1. What is a PSD file?

Generally, PSD are layered graphic/images files. Each layer can be altered/deleted/combined/edited/resized/moved.  PSD is proprietary to Adobe's Photoshop. However, because of the format's popularity, other photo editing programs supports the file format.

  1. Do you provide instructions on how to use your templates?

Yes. The tutorials are included with each purchase. Please see our "Tutorials" section for samples.

  1. How do I open a zip file within Photoshop?

A zip file cannot be opened in Photoshop.  You must use a zip unlocking software program.

  1. How do I unzip or unlock a file?

Computers generally come with an unzipping software program.  If you need a zipping program, here are a couple of links.

  1. Why is the template actually larger than the indicated size?

Printing companies require  a "bleed" edge. The bleed edge varies depending on the size of the product and the printing company used. Most bleeds range from a 1/8 of an inch to 1/2 an inch with an 1/8 to a 1/4 of an inch being normal. The bleed area will be  trimmed by the printing company. The bleed edge is included so there is not a white edge around the photo.

Before submitting your image to be printed, please review the printing guidelines. The template may need to be cropped.  (For example: If you submit a 5×7 photo card to a local store such as Costco instead of a printing company, the image will need to be trimmed from 5 1/4" x 7 1/4" to 5" x 7" which is actual printing size.  If you are printing the image on your own printer, then you can control the trimmed amount.)

  1. Why do I see a yellow warning sign within the text layer on the layer palette?

The yellow warning sign means the font used within the text layer is not installed on your computer.

  1. How do I add my photos to the templates?

You don't need to be a professional graphic designer to use our templates. Our products are designed to be easy to use. You simply drop  your photo into the "photo spot/area" and then if needed resize the  photo. Once you adjusted/changed the text your done.

You will need you own photo editing software program that accepts PSD files and a computer. If you purchase a template, it is assumed you have a basic working knowledge of your photo editing software.  Comprehensive (step-by-step) tutorials for the templates are provided with each template.

If additional training or help is needed, we suggest a couple of options. For a quick and free option on a 'how to', try www.YouTube.com. Many individuals are willing to upload educational Photoshop training videos. For an more comprehensive training, try www.lynda.com.

Note: Some of the photo editing software programs that supports PSD files are Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro, Corel PhotoImpact, Paint.net and Gimp. (Gimp is a free solution – www.gimp.org.)  Please try the free template before purchasing since all sales are final.

  1. Within the albums can I place one photo across two pages?

Yes, however, for best results don't place a face crossed the center fold line (center fold area).

  1. Where can I print the templates?

The printing lab needed will vary depending on the template purchased. Here is a list of a few printing companies.

  1. Do I need to use a specific photo lab?

No, you do not need to use a specific lab. The templates are created using the typical printing requirements, which is the finish print size plus a bleed area. Many of the printing labs have the template size guidelines listed on their website. If the template is created for a specific lab, the printing/photo lab will be noted within the product description.

Assuming the different labs print the same sized, the main difference between the printing lab requirements is the bleed area.

If selecting a template for a different size/shape then the template was originally designed,  make sure the printable/bleed areas are covered and that the designed is centered with the new size/shape.  We do not guarantee that the PSD template is resizable to a different shape/size.

Most templates can be printed at any printing lab.

  1. The printing company/local store does not accept the PSD file for printing. How can I submitted the file?

Almost all companies will accept a JPEG file. Some companies will accept Tiff files and some printing companies will accept PDFs.

Once the product is completed, you should save the layer adjustable file and then create a "save as" file to the desired format. (JPeg files cannot be saved with layers. If you are using Photoshop, the program will auto flatten the image and then create a JPEG file.) As an additional note, Jpeg files are smaller than the PSD file and will be easier to upload.

  1. Who can use our products?

They can be used by anyone. Our products are geared more towards the professional photographer, graphic artists, scrapbookers, bloggers and web designers. The templates are a great way to add color/texture to you web page or design project. They are designed to save you time and produce a professional product.

  1. I do not have Photoshop. Can I still use one of your templates?

Yes. Any editing software program that accepts PSD files can be used.  If you are concerned about using our templates in your photo editing software, please download a test template before making any purchase. (GIMP is a free photo editing software program that allows PSD formats.  For additional information regarding GIMP see www.gimp.org.  Photoshop Elements, Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro, Corel PhotoImpact, and Paint.net can also be used.)

  1. Can I reuse the template?

Yes. You can use the template as many times as you would like.  Our products are copyright protected. The templates cannot be resold, distributed or shared. Our products are designed to enhance your own personal and professional work. After adding your own photos you may sell the finished flatten product to your clients or use them for personal use.

  1. I want to add a boarders to the photo template, is that possible?

Yes.  The photo templates are fully editable.

Note: The space next to trim/gutter area can be affected during the trimming process. To avoid possible trimming problems, please make sure words and small boarders are at least a 1/4th of an inch away from the trimmed area.

  1. Why is there a different between the displayed color and the printed product?

Unless your monitor screen is calibrated to display colors correctly, the colors on the screen may not be accurate.  Labs will generally allow you to do a test print to determine if the colors are to your liking.

  1. Can I print a smaller template book in a larger book size available through my printing lab?

Unfortunately, no. As you upscale an image/artwork, it becomes grainier and fuzzier.  A small amount of upscaling is okay.  (The general rule of thumb is not to upscale/upsize more than 20% of the original size.)

Fonts

  1. Are the fonts included?

No. The fonts are not included. If a specific font is used as part of the design, the font's name is included.  There a number of website that offer free fonts or fonts that can be purchased.  If there is a specific font you need, try searching the internet using the font's name or looking through font websites for a similar font.  A few of the websites include www.fontica.com, www.fonts101.com, www.dafont.com, http://www.dingbatdepot.com/, www.fontspace.comwww.1001fonts.com, http://simplythebest.net/fonts/dingbats.html, etc …
